　　　　　Jinan No.2 People's Hospital, which is also called Eye Hospital of Jinan, was previously known as St. Joseph's Hospital built by German church in 1923. After over 80 years’ changes and developments, it now becomes a large comprehensive hospital with the integrated functions of medical treatment, scientific research and teaching as well as health care.

　　　　　　Facing the increasingly fierce competition, the staff of Jinan No.2 People's Hospital have established a accurate working direction that “insist on the hospital-running mode of large-special and small-general department and the working focus of ophthalmic service so as to realize rapid development of the hospital”. Meanwhile, the hospital also inherits the running principle of “boost the development of the hospital with high technology, good quality as well as lawful and scientific management”and has been very successful in medical field, especially for ophthalmic treatment.

　　　　　With the annual outpatient amount of over 200,000, the hospital has 540 staff, 300 hospital beds at present, providing the services for ophthalmic treatment, internal medicine, surgery, gynecologic treatment, traditional Chinese ophthalmology, emergency treatment, stomatology treatment, health care, medical test, B-Ultrasound, CT and radiology treatment and etc. As the key service of the hospital, there are ten kinds of ophthalmic services such as treatment for cataract, glaucoma, fundus diseases, ocular myopathy, ocular trauma, children’s eye diseases and orbital tumor, as well as laser treatment, traditional Chinese ophthalmology service and plastic and cosmetic service. It also has established two centers- myopia laser therapy center and optometry glass-match center. The ophthalmic service department of the hospital was awarded as the “pioneering ophthalmic service center of the city ” and “special medical service sector of Shangdong province (A-level)”. Furthermore, the Cataract Center of Jinan Province, Jinan Branch of National Amblyopia and Strabismus Control Center, Diabetes Control Center of Shandong Province, Vision Rehabilitation Center of Jinan and Ophthalmic Treatment Quality Control Center of Jinan all have been established in this hospital. The ophthalmic department of the hospital has adopted acupuncture and Chinese medicine to successfully cure several complicated diseases such as optic atrophy, retinitis pigmentosa and macular degeneration; and in addition, it also has adopted the surgery laminar flow purification facilities which reach hundred grades purification standard. Furthermore, the hospital is equipped with the first-class health examination center of the province, which meets the diversified demand of people.

Moreover, the hospital is also equipped with many internationally advanced medical equipments, such as excimer laser treatment instrument, optical coherence tomography scanner (OCT), fundus laser scanner (SLO), non-mydriatic fundus camera, multi-wavelength fundus laser treatment instrument, vitrectomy machine, phacoemulsification instrument, systemic spiral CT and automatic biochemical analyzer, which ensure a reliable diagnosis, treatment and surgery service for patients.

Adhering to the service attitude of “patient-oriented and quality-focused ”, the hospital implements standardized system construction and management. In recent ten years, the hospital has won scientific research achievement awards for over 50 times and is the only organization in Jinan which had won the scientific and technological progress award for the successive three times.
