Development process: accompanied by technical ophthalmology development, Jinan Second People’s Hospital Eye Bank experienced difficult initial stage, painful upkeep stage, rapid rising stage and steady developing stage.

    在上世纪八十年代后期，随着眼科显微手术技术的开展，我院就敏感地认识到角膜移植手术对眼科角膜病治疗的重要性，在济南市率先开展了角膜移植手术。在老一辈眼科专家芦信义教授的指导和帮助下，于1990年建成了我市第一家角膜库，暨济南市第二人民医院眼库。

    In the late eighties of last century, with the development of ophthalmic microsurgery technology, we realized the importance of corneal transplantation in the treatment of ophthalmic keratopathy, where in Jinan we first carried out the corneal transplant surgery under the guidance and support of the older eye specialist, professor Lu Xinyi, and built the first eye bank in Jinan, namely the Jinan Second People’s Hospital Eye Bank.

    由于当时的技术手段落后，设备条件陈旧，许多医生在这种艰苦的环境下克服重重困难坚持了下来。度过了痛苦的维持阶段，进入了快速上升阶段，在上世纪九十年代中后期，本眼库已能够为临床提供完全符合质量标准的角膜和巩膜供体材料。数量达每年120例左右。迄今为止，已为临床提供了近两千个角膜供体材料，这在济南市是首屈一指的。为济南市的眼科事业做出了突出的贡献，为广大因角膜病而致盲的患者重新带来了光明。

    Regardless of the laggard technology and obsolete equipment, the doctors overcome the difficulties, surviving the painful maintain stage, stepping into a stage of raped increase while in the middle and late 1990s, a full compliance of cornea and sclera donor material has been developed, providing 120 cases each year. Until now, the eye bank has provided nearly 2000 cornea donors, ranking the first in Jinan, which makes prominent contribution for the ophthalmology in Jinan, lightening the life of those who are blinded by the corneal diseases.

    眼库现状：随着我院的眼科角膜病专业发展迅速，补充了一批具有研究生学历的高素质人才，带动了眼库的平稳快速发展。已经建成了颇具规模、洁净操作条件齐全的标准化眼库。已经于2015年四月经山东省卫计委批注，获得正式眼角膜组织库资质。

    眼库基础设施包括准备间，材料无菌处理间和细胞培养室。眼库设备包括洁净操作台、相差倒置显微镜、细胞培养箱、空气净化机深低温冰箱、普通冰箱等设备。

    Eye bank infrastructure includes preparation room, material sterile processing room and between cells culture room. Eye bank equipment includes clean work station, inverted microscope, cell culture box, air purification machine, deep cryogenic refrigerator, ordinary refrigerator and so on.

    本眼库目前隶属于济南市眼科研究所中心实验室，配备专门负责眼库的实验技术人员2名，和专门的车辆调度。管理制度完善，同时有详细的眼球取材、处理、保存的操作流程，以保证角膜材料的质量和无菌要求。迄今为止，本眼库所提供的角膜供体材料，未发现一例原发供体感染和手术源性传染病病例。

    This eye bank is currently affiliated with the central laboratory of Jinan eye research institute, equipped with 2 experimental technicians specialized in eye bank and special vehicle scheduling. A combination of perfect management system, detail eye material, processing and preservation operating process ensures eye material with high quality and aseptic requirement. So far, among all the eye cornea donor material provided, no case has been found of primary donor infection and surgical source infectious.

    二、 工作成绩：

    Work achievement 

    1、 基础研究：本眼库经过多年时间的研究，完成了山东省卫生厅青年基金项目《器官培养法保存角膜的研究》，对培养方法进行了大胆改进，应用独立设计的新型角膜培养瓶进行角膜保存，实现了对角膜片本身真正意义上的动态观察。克服了传统的角膜培养方法的各项缺点，操作时间明显缩短，植片污染发生率明显减少，使器官培养保存法可以在一般眼库中广泛使用，为实现角膜供体材料的资源合理配置提供了物质保障和理论依据。

    Basic research: after years of research, this eye bank has completed the youth fund by Shandong Health department with project research on organ culture to preserve cells: great changes have been made on the cultivation method, the application of independent and new design corneal bottle for cornea preservation has achieved the true sense of dynamic observation on corneal. Free from the drawback of traditional corneal cultivation methods, it largely shorted the operation time with less incidence of plant slice pollution, making it possible to achieve widely application in general eye bank, which provides material guarantee and theoretical basis for rational allocation of cornea donor materials.

    This research result has won second prize in Shandong province natural science academic innovation and first prize in Jinan excellent academic achievements of science and technology, published an article on Chinese journal of ophthalmology and the Chinese journal of practical ophthalmology and it is also rewarded national utility model patents.

    2、 临床应用：眼库是紧密配合着我院眼科角膜病专业而发展的，为临床提供合乎质量要求的角膜供体材料。我院自1989年开展角膜移植手术以来，已完成包括穿透性、板层性角膜移植手术近2500例，居济南市首位，在全省也是名列前茅。所有病例中，未出现一例由于角膜供体材料本身原因所导致的角膜感染、手术源性感染疾病等质量问题。使众多患者避免了摘除眼球的痛苦，甚至重见光明。产生了巨大的社会效益，多次获得省市领导的高度赞扬。

    Clinical application: eye bank development is closely accompanied by our professional eye cornea disease research, aiming to provide high quality cornea donor material. Since 1989 when we first started corneal transplant, nearly 2500 cases of penetrating, lamellar corneal transplants have been conducted, which ranks the first in Jinan and also among the best throughout the whole province. No case has been found of primary donor infection and surgical source infectious caused by cornea donor material. It was spoken highly by provincial and city leaders on its huge social benefits, which prevents the patients from the pain of eye removal, giving them back light.

    角膜捐献：促进社会的角膜捐献工作，是一项困难艰巨而又功德无量的社会公益事业。本眼库自本世纪初以来多次与新闻电视、广播、报纸等多家媒体合作，进行这方面知识的广泛宣传，努力提高社会各界人士对角膜捐献的认识；积极弘扬无私捐献者的精神，多次帮助捐献意愿者与山东省红十字会和济南市红十字会进行洽谈，协商捐献适宜；为本市白血病患者杨倩、重症肌无力患者刘燕等捐款，鼓励他们与病魔斗争。现在给我们眼库打电话咨询捐献事宜的民众越来越多，体现出了我们眼库在这一方面所发挥的巨大推动作用。
   Corneal donation: it is a difficult and challenging social public welfare undertaking to promote social cornea donation. Our eye bank has cooperated with several televisions, radios, newspapers and other media to enhance public concern on corneal donation at the same time we help the donors to contact the Shandong and Jinan Red Cross to coordinate their donations; making donations to a leukemia patient named Yang Qian and a myasthenia gravis patient named Liuyan, giving encouragement to fight for the illness. The increasing number of people’s consultation on us by telephone is a reflection of our huge rule in promoting corneal donation.

    3、 合作共享：作为一种人体器官组织移植范畴，角膜供体材料的来源是十分特殊的，存在着一种供需之间绝对的不平衡状态，这就需要全国各地甚至世界范围的广泛合作，合理调配。本眼库在成立伊始就注意到这一必然趋势。因此在长达近二十年的发展过程中，一直注重学习、消化和吸收国内外先进先进的管理经验，不断改进保存方法。努力扩大与国内外眼库的合作范围，多次派出人员到北京、广州、青岛，以及澳大利亚悉尼等现代化眼库进行学习进修。多年来一直保持着与这些眼库的理论和业务交流。2008年与深圳红十字会眼库合作，完成了我省第一例跨省输送眼角膜实施手术的工作，2009年帮助黑龙江省眼库完成了我省第一例异地取材输送角膜的工作。获得了外省同行的高度赞许。自2014年8月以来，与美国阿拉巴马州眼库合作进口人角膜组织，现在每月能够定期进口8枚高质量人眼角膜，保证了充足和稳定的角膜供体来源，使需要的患者能够及时得到手术治疗，无需再在痛苦中漫长的等待。
   Cooperation sharing: as a category of human organs and tissues transplant, the source of cornea donor materials is very special, there is a kind of absolute state of imbalance between supply and demand, which requires worldwide cooperation and reasonable allocation all over the country. Taking this into consideration, we pay attention to study, digest and absorb advanced domestic and foreign advanced management experience in nearly 20 years of development, constantly improving the preservation method. Efforts have been made to expand our scope of cooperation with domestic and foreign eye bank, with staff sent to Beijing, Guangzhou, Qingdao, and Sydney, Australia, and other modern eye bank for further study, maintaining with theory and business communication with eye banks over the years. In 2008, in collaboration with Shenzhen Red Cross eye bank, the first case of inter-provincial transport corneal surgery work was completed. In 2009, we helped the eye bank of Heilongjiang province complete the first long distance based cornea conveying, which was highly praised by provincial counterparts. Since August 2014, we started importing corneal tissue cooperating with Alabama eye bank, so now 8 pieces of high quality human cornea a month can be regularly imported, which ensures the adequate and stable sources of donor cornea, so that patients in need can receive timely surgical treatment instead of waiting long in pain.

    三、 前景展望

    Future prospects

    时任济南市卫计委主任贾堂宏曾经热情地支持我院眼库与深圳眼库的进行合作，指示应该通过多方面的合作，提高我院眼库的影响力。

    本眼库将更加紧密地与各种媒体合作，推广角膜捐献的宣传，建立角膜捐献者的鼓励制度。依据国家法律法规建立完善的角膜劝捐制度。设置专门的劝捐员，提高捐献协商，捐献登记，角膜取材，供体材料输送、共享的效率。Our eye bank will cooperate more closely with all kinds of media to promote cornea donation propaganda and build encourages system of donor cornea. According to national laws and regulations, perfect system of cornea to donate will be established. There will be special personnel dedicated to improve donation discussions, donation registration, cornea providing, donor material conveying, and efficiency of sharing.
   密切关注国内外眼库发展建设的最新动态，继续加强同其他眼库之间的合作和交流，不断更新眼库操作技术和各项规章制度，购置先进的眼库实验、检查设备。努力把本眼库建设成为符合国际标准，辐射济南周边地区，具备临床、科研、技术培训等功能的眼库中心。Close attention should be paid to the recent development of the construction of the eye bank in both at home and abroad to strengthen cooperation and communication between with other eye bank, constantly updating rules and regulations. Advanced eye bank experiment and inspection equipment should be purchased to make an eye bank with international standards radiated surrounding areas in Jinan, which also has clinical and scientific research, technical training, and other functions.
